Meredith Becher ’23 followed her passion for biology and charted a new course on the Connecticut River from a canoe.

Here, Sophia found steadfast support as a woman within a STEM field as well as the freedom to embrace her multiple passions.

“Working in a lab has been a great opportunity. Not only have I made friends who have similar academic interests as I do, but working in the lab shows employers that I’m able to come up with my own research project. To have the experience on my resume shows that I can do that work and lead a research project on my own.”

I have grown into a strong, confident and competent individual and aspiring scientist after four years living and learning at MHC.
